Couple Therapy

Relationships develop in context—child development, family systems, and economic, social, and structural forces that often limit. Our work together will be through the Relational Life Therapy framework. which “combines psychotherapy, family systems, feminist therapy, trauma work, and neurobiology” (RLI, 2026), and sees success in a relatively brief timeframe. This approach helps couples address common challenges across the relationship span: difficulties in hearing each other and communicating, parenting, infidelity, forming shared goals, equalizing power dynamics, and developing and maintaining intimacy and relational joy.

What to Expect

  • Through my electronic practice portal Owl Practice, you will each review complete and intake forms before your first session.
  • Your first session will be 90 minutes. Subsequent sessions will be 50 minutes unless the work calls for 90 minutes.
  • In our first session, we’ll focus on getting to know each other while we work to understand your needs, discuss what brought you to therapy, and identify challenges and any goals.
  • Most people find coming to therapy every two weeks helpful as a starting point, but we’ll work together to find what best matches your needs.
  • Virtual sessions will be held via Owl Practice.
  • Clients and therapist communication outside of practice will also be held in Owl Practice.
  • I don’t communicate with one partner individually except for logistic reasons (like setting up a setting) or with express consent of the other partner.
  • Fees for the first session are $225. Fees for subsequent sessions is $175.
  • Many insurance companies in Ontario cover psychotherapy. Please check with your insurance provider to make sure they cover psychotherapy with a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying).
  • You will receive and pay invoices and get receipts through Owl Practice. Payment is due on the day of the session.

  • If a session is cancelled with less than 24 hours notice, a 50% fee may be charged. Virtual sessions are an option if there is a logistics problem with a scheduled in-person session (like childcare, illness, transportation).
  • Good therapy needs time, and if you are more than 15 minutes late, this isn’t possible. The session will need to be rescheduled and the full fee will apply.
